What Does Katy Perry Eat? A Breakdown of Her Diet

[ad_1]

Katy Perry is known to show off her tight-knit curves in her music videos or whilst on tour, but according to the star, she’s always battled with her weight, which is why she now sticks to a healthy regime.

So, what does Katy Perry eat to really stay in shape? She admits that it’s about having a good balance. Instead of eating large meals throughout the day, Katy opts for five smaller ones to stay fuller for longer and have more energy.

“Eating healthy is so important because I can’t afford to get sick,” she told People

The type of meal plan she’s been known to regularly follow is called the ‘5-Factor Diet’; where you eat five meals a day with five core ingredients in each recipe, including protein, complex carbohydrates, fiber, and healthy fats.

Besides maintaining a healthy diet, Katy works out religiously and practices a lot of meditation.

So, if that sounds like a lifestyle you’d like to follow, stick around as we walk you through what Katy Perry eats in a day.

Breakfast

Before starting her day, Katy has admitted to just drinking water. She revealed to Women’s Health that she drinks Cascade Mountain water and occasionally adds in LMNT hydration salts.

“That is the best way to start, is just to drink water,” she said. “I know it’s such a cliché, but I think a lot of us go straight to the coffee without just drinking a glass of water.”

Food-wise, the Witness singer kick-starts her day with a variety of healthy options such as oatmeal blueberry pancakes, unsweetened oats with fresh fruit, egg whites, or avocado – no bread included.

She prefers brekkies that are “light”…but has a “kick” to start her day. Katy revealed to WH that she also often goes for a banana or hard-boiled eggs. By the looks of this snap, she also likes a fun fried egg, too.

To wash down her healthy breakfast, Katy told Well + Good that she loves “experimenting with different drinks—in the morning, before Orlando [Bloom] and I have our coffee, we’ll drink celery juice or do a niacin flush.”

Her caffeinated drinks contain no fat or sugar (as indicated in the 5-Factor Diet); with almond milk or low-fat milk probably being her option when drinking her cup of Joe in the morning.

This could be something like grilled chicken with whole grains like quinoa; or veggies, salad, plus some healthy fats like guacamole.

According to her backstage demands [via TMZ], Katy’s lunch requirements while on tour specifically “must be low-fat and health conscious and cannot contain MSG”. She also requires fresh vegetables at all times including spinach, broccoli, celery, beets, carrots or kale.

Besides chicken, Katy also has fish, pulses or occasional lean meat to vary her lunchtime meals. She shared this photo from her holiday in Italy in 2021, which included a mouth-watering photo of fresh crab legs, which clearly shows she’s a fan.

As seen during her stint on American Idol, one of Katy’s favorite foods is bone broth soup. While it might not sound appetizing, a lot of famous celebs swear by bone broth throughout the day for hydration, nutrition, and weight loss benefits. Even our beloved Kylie Jenner drinks bone broth throughout the day.

According to Women’s Health, Katy’s usual dinners include a protein, greens, and soup, or pasta “once or twice a week”. She makes sure to eat between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m – “I’ve started eating earlier, which everybody swears by, but that’s only because my daughter eats earlier, which is great…”

Her recent IG posts reveal that a lot of her meals are actually plant-based. She once shared her poke bowl which was loaded with tofu, rice, and lots of fresh vegetables.

She’s clearly a fan of this plant-based sauce to top up her meals with, too. “Prayers answered”, she captioned the snap.

Snacks

When it comes to snacking, Katy Perry enjoys two varied snacks per day in between meals to keep her fueled until her next big feast; in doing so, it cuts the urge to make unhealthy choices or overindulge in foods that aren’t nutritious.

Her usual go-to snacks include fresh fruits like tangerines and fresh vegetables with a spoonful of hummus. She’s also a huge fan of salty foods like Popchips, she told People.

It might sound like a meal to you, but another of Katy’s most preferable snacks is a healthy quesadilla with turkey, black beans, and low-fat cheese [via Popsugar] – sounds delicious!

When she’s on tour, Katy switches up her snack intake. Her long list of snack requests (according to TMZ) include: fresh vegetables such as spinach and celery and large baskets of organic tropical fruit like sliced pineapple, mango and kiwis.

She also asks for dried figs, healthy granola or whole grain tortilla chips with dips like homemade guacamole and hummus. Sometimes, Katy goes for fresh cut crudités like cucumber, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, snap peas & celery alongside a ranch dip.

Treats

What does Katy Perry eat to treat herself?

Like the rest of us, Katy indulges in treats from time to time. She did once wear a dress made of cupcakes, after all – and she does enough exercise enough to burn it all off!

While some of us pig out on all the junk food that we can get, Katy keeps it a bit more controlled; she enjoys eating Ritz crackers, “boot-shaped” chicken nuggets, and ice cream (her favorite flavor being Cold Stone Creamery’s Birthday Cake Remix) [via Insider].

It’s no secret that she loves Lucky Charms, too. Apparently, Katy’s mom had “parental sugar cereal restrictions” when she was younger, so now she makes sure to tuck in to these yummy cereals when she can.

She once revealed on Twitter that she also loves a juicy pear jelly bean, so we guess that’s her go-to candy for when she requires a little pick-me-up.

List of foods:

Drinks

When it comes to drinking, the singer has a strict sugar-free rule. In fact, Katy Perry’s diet (5-Factor Diet) doesn’t permit any sugary drinks at all. Throughout the day, you will find her drinking coconut water (known for its array of health benefits), as well as freshly pressed juices.

Besides these beverages, Katy always swears by water or tea with apple cider vinegar. She’s actually described apple cider vinegar as a “staple” for her. She loves it so much that she’s the spokesperson for Bragg’s and calls apple cider her “magic potion”.

Apparently, when she first met her husband Orlando Bloom, she got into his car and he was drinking water with apple cider vinegar, too. What a match made in healthy heaven!

As a healthy top-up, Katy Perry’s diet consists of a yummy peanut butter and jelly smoothie. Most specifically, Harley Pasternack’s PB&J Smoothie from his The Body Reset Diet book.

List of drinks:

Cheat Meals

While you won’t see Katy regularly tucking into a pizza and fries, she does enjoy the occasional cheat meal.

Her go-to order is an In-N-Out burger (‘double double’) and fries, as well as a spicy Mexican. In fact, she admitted that her In-N-Out burger obsession led to her engagement to Orlando!

And her dedication to fast food is so intense that she queued up for an hour to eat at Tokyo’s first-ever Taco Bell.

Although she doesn’t always indulge in take-outs – she does make the most of it when she really craves a greasy burger or tacos. And pizza…who doesn’t love pizza?

List of foods:

Supplements & Vitamins

Katy Perry is definitely a pill-popper, but don’t fret – it’s only vitamins.

The best-selling singer once shared her vitamin regime on Twitter with a very organized system. In the snap, she split her vitamins between three zip-lock bags named ‘breakfast, lunch, and dinner’.

It’s believed the famous star takes plenty of vitamins B and D. While she probably gets a lot of her vitamins naturally through a healthy and varied diet, the star ensures that she’s on top of her wellness game with plenty of added supplements.

In her interview with Well + Good, Katy also revealed that she loves taking “peptides, which, especially at age 37, gives me an extra kick…”

She also once disclosed on Twitter that she keeps her immune system healthy with “Vitamin C, Counter Attack, oil of oregano, celery juice, and bone broth…”

While Katy swears by her healthy lifestyle, she also spends at least an hour working out, five days a week. With a balance of exercise and meditation, Katy keeps her mind and body as energized as possible.

Most celebrities follow crazy and unattainable health and fitness schedules, but Katy’s food intake doesn’t seem too bad, after all.
