[ad_1]

This best-selling female singer has been in the limelight for well over a decade, taking us on a phenomenal musical journey and keeping us entertained with arena tours and surprise album drops.

Although Beyonce has been in the spotlight since a teen, she’s managed to stay out of big tabloid dramas and has kept her personal life quite quiet.

If you’re a super-fan like me, you’re probably itching to know every single little detail about this superstar. So what has Queen Bey been keeping on the low?

Scroll down to find out some fun and interesting Beyonce facts that you probably had no idea about…

1. Beyonce Won her First Talent Show Aged 7

Beyoncé was a star from a young age. At just seven-years-old, she won a talent pageant, beating kids twice her age and receiving a standing ovation. So, what did this young celeb do to win? Well, not much. She simply sang John Lennon’s Imagine and showed off her killer vocals.

2. She Used to Sweep Floors

Beyonce’s ‘first job’ was sweeping hairs off the floors at her mother’s hair salon, which was called ‘Headliners’. The superstar also sang there and was given tips to pay for her season pass to Six Flags – an amusement park. We’ve all gotta start somewhere, right?

3. Destiny’s Child Started Off on ‘Star Search’

Wondering what Beyonce did to become famous and what set her on the path to success? In 1993, the diva-in-the-making entered one of the biggest talent shows on TV as a member of the band ‘Girls Tyme’.

The group managed to come second, a moment which was depicted in her video for Flawless. Beyonce, Kelly Rowland and LaTavia Roberson would later famously become known as Destiny’s Child – one of the biggest selling girl bands in history.

4. Beyoncé’s Dad Stole from Her

Beyoncé’s father, Mathew, who earned a salary of six-figures, quit his sales job to manage Destiny’s Child full time in the 90s. He managed to nab them a deal with Columbia Records in 1997, which set off their stardom.

Later, when Beyoncé decided to go solo, she discovered that her father was stealing from her ‘I Am…’ tour. Following that, Bey decided to become her own boss and make her own decisions, parting ways with her dad. The father and daughter later rebuilt their relationship, although we’re sure Bey doesn’t forget his betrayal.

5. She’s Suffered From Depression

Here’s a fact about Beyonce’s life that’s hardly talked about! During the Destiny’s Child era, Queen Bey would lock herself in her room for days without leaving. She hit an all-time low when Luckett and Roberson left the band and sued her father.

Beyonce was publicly blamed for their departure and received her first blow of scrutiny. In an interview with Parade magazine (via CBS News), Bey revealed that she went through a lonely period: “I didn’t eat, I stayed in my room. I was in a really bad place in life, going through that lonely period: ‘Who am I? Who are my friends?’ My life changed.”

It’s refreshing to know that even the diva that ‘has it all’, is still human and deals with the same issues that us ‘normal folk’ face.
